VOLUNTEERS MAKE WHEELS FOR WINNERS HAPPEN

We are a 100% volunteer staff, so volunteer involvement in all aspects of the organization is critical. Many volunteers work on bikes, but we have other ways to get involved such as community outreach, computer work, event planning, fundraising, web design, etc.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A BIKE REPAIR EXPERT TO GET INVOLVED - WE WILL TRAIN YOU!

Young and old have come in with all levels of experience. It is a great opportunity to learn how to repair bikes and familiarize yourself with bike tools.

  • We will train you on our process to repair all types of bikes, from children’s bikes with coaster brakes to multi-gear mountain and city bikes with handbrakes and shocks.

SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN AS A WHEELS FOR WINNERS VOLUNTEER!

The Wheels for Winners Repair Shop

The place where we refurbish donated bikes. This is one half of the shop and the other half is storage for bikes waiting to be refurbished and finished bikes ready for new owners.

We Deliver SMILES!

Help put a smile on every person who gets a free Wheels for Winners bike.

Volunteer Wheels for Winners Mechanics at Centro Hispano Bike Event

A few of our volunteer mechanics delivered free, refurbished bikes to youth at Centro Hispano in Madison.  Wheels has 35 part-time mechanics who refurbished these 80 bikes.  Our volunteers at the event help each child pick out a bike, adjust the bike to fit them and give them a free helmet and lock.

Wheels for Winners Free Community-Based

Bike Repair Event at Bayview Community Center

People who cannot afford a new bike typically lack the resources to get their bike repaired. This causes a lot of children and young adults to ride unsafe bikes or give up on bike riding. As a solution, Wheels started repairing bikes in spring and summer out in the community. In 2023 we did 32 community-based repair events fixing 300 hundred bikes for free.
