Recycle your bike for others to use

Have an old bike that you don't use anymore? Donate it to Wheels for Winners.

We fix and redistribute all sizes and makes    

  • Your donated bike will be given free to youth and adults experiencing challenges in their daily lives who perform community service. We serve people primarily in Madison and Dane County.

  • We clean, adjust, repair, and rebuild every bike we give out.

  • We fix and give away an average of 400 bikes annually to youth and adults. Working with other partners, we redistribute another 300 bikes annually.

  • Each bike comes with a free, brand new bike helmet and lock.

  • We depend 100% on bicycles donated by you.  Since our mechanics overhaul all bikes before earners receive them, their current state is not important.  Bikes we cannot use are broken down for spare parts and the remaining metal is recycled.

  • All donations are deeply appreciated!

    We currently do not accept electric bikes as we are not equipped to refurbish them or safely store the batteries. 

Bike recipients give back to our community

  • As an Earn-a-Bike program, Wheels for Winners asks bike recipients, or a family member, to give back to their community by having completed or a commitment to complete 10 hours of community service.

Your contribution directly helps provide bikes to children and adults from low income families, enabling them to explore their communities, engage in physical activity, get to work and gain the freedom that comes with independent mobility.

Turn into the alley behind Video Game X-Change and we are in the back of the building. Sorry, we do not pick-up donations.  If it is inconvenient to drop off your donation during our office hours, it can be left just outside our door at 229 S. Fair Oaks Avenue.  We give receipts for your bicycle donations for tax deductions.

Recent refugees settling in Dane County receive donated bikes

Many recent refugees settling in Dane County are sponsored by our communities and charitable organizations. These refugees come here with few resources. Recipients use your donated bike to get to work, share valuable experiences with their children and help normalize their new lives.
