Thanks to Glass Nickel Pizza for hosting our annual volunteer appreciation gathering earlier this month. We honored two long-time volunteers, Charlotte Marshall who has been with Wheels for Winners for 24 years and Walt Brinkmann who has been with us for 18 years!
At times Wheels for Winners has a surplus of bikes in our little shop. Luckily, we recently had the opportunity to partner with Working Bikes, a non-profit in Chicago that provides bikes to global organizations in need of bikes. This load was on its way to Botswana as part of a larger shipment of 400 bikes.
Thank you to all who supported us through the Big Share fundraiser! We exceeded all expectations this year, raising $6,215 dollars. With your help we matched a $2,000 challenge grant from Budget Bicycle in addition to a $650 challenge grant from our board members.
